Winning the sought-after award for cutsheet printers, up to B3, with a duty cycle of less than 250,000 A4 sheets per month, was the Ricoh Pro C5400 Series of digital colour sheetfed presses that combine enhanced speed of production and operation with greater usability. The presses deliver improved image registration accuracy through enhanced paper feeding stability and more precise image adjustment functions.

Eef De Ridder, Vice President, Graphic Communications Group, Ricoh Europe, comments: “We are honoured to receive this award and proud that the Pro C5400 Series has been recognised for its contribution to advancing print production. Designed to enhance the capabilities of commercial and enterprise print environments, the series delivers greater versatility, productivity, and consistent high quality output across a wide range of substrates. As demand grows for more diverse short run applications, the Pro C5400 Series empowers print service providers to expand production capabilities and achieve exceptional results with confidence, every time.”

The Pro C5400 Series features significant improvements in overall core performance including:

  • Warmup time drastically reduced from 120 to 26 seconds
  • Faster scanning speed. Duplex scanning up to 300 pages per minute
  • Workflow efficiency is elevated by new AI-powered orientation detection and support for continuous scans of small format documents such as business cards
  • Increased touchscreen capabilities significantly improving usability
  • Elevated paper setting user interface, ensuring consistent print quality
  • Finisher option featuring an industry-first stapleless binding function that uses water to moisten and press the papers together, enabling stapleless binding of up to 16 sheets for corner binding, or up to 12 sheets for two position binding
  • New envelope fusing option, with faster envelope printing speed
  • Space saving compact folding unit reduced to a width of 209 mm, less than half of the previous model
  • Improved paper transport stability and enhanced image registration accuracy for duplex and long sheet printing with a redesigned Vacuum Feed Large Capacity Input Tray.

Importantly, the use of recycled materials has been increased by more than five times in this series compared to its predecessor, contributing to the environmental management initiatives of Print Service Providers and their clients.

The EDP Association supports technology users in identifying the most suitable solutions for their specific applications. Its awards recognise outstanding innovations in print production tools, software, substrates, inks, materials, and finishing systems.
